Teaching Times

Officially, registration, assemblies, playtimes and lunchtimes are not classed as part of teaching time. Children at our school have the following teaching times per week:

Key Stage 1 (Years R, 1, 2)    22.5 hours per week
Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4)        23.75 hours per week

Snack Time

Children may bring fruit or vegetables to eat during morning break. As a school that has been awarded Healthy School status, children are also encouraged to bring a drink of water in a named bottle.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will have an opportunity to eat and drink during snack time in the morning. Key Stage 1 children will also be given a free piece of fruit or vegetable each afternoon as part of a National Government programme.

Lunchtime Arrangements

Our school has one lunchtime supervisory assistant (Dinner Lady) for each class. These supervisors are responsible for  the children’s welfare throughout the lunch hour. In addition, the Headteacher or member of the Senior Management Team is on duty every lunchtime.

Children made choose to take advantage of the hot school meals provided at the school or they may bring a packed lunch in a clearly named lunch box. Hot school meals need to be ordered on the day. Details are available on the Lunch Arrangements page.

Drinking water is provided for the children, however, many parents prefer to include a drink in their child’s lunchbox. For health and safety reasons we request that only cold drinks be sent into school. Cans, glass bottles and fizzy drinks are not permitted.

The School is part of the Healthy Eating Schools’ Programme, so we do encourage healthy eating. We are a ‘Nut Free School’. Please consider carefully the use of nut products in lunch boxes.
