CLASS OF 2014/15

Trip to Honeybrook Farm

On Thurs 25th June, Year 1 took a trip to Honeybrook Farm. They learnt all about farms and the animals you may see on them. They made a visit to Pets Corner and had a tractor ride. It was a very hot day and everyone had a great time!

Look at our fabulous new outside area!

The children and staff in Year 1 would like to say a really big "THANKYOU" to POPs for all the learning and play equipment that they have kindly provided for their new outside area.

Special Thanks to Steve (Mason's Grandad) who kindly came and built all the sheds.

Learning all about bubbles and balloons

We have been learning about bubbles and balloons this term. We had lots of questions we wanted to find the answers to! “Are all bubbles the same shape and size?”   “Can a bubble float higher than a house?”   “If a balloon and a bubble had a race, which one would win?”

We loved investigating to find our own answers, and had lots of fun with the gigantic bubbles!!!

We are very proud of our independent learning

We had some questions about ...... 'Planets'

The children in 1N had some questions about the planets, how big they were and what colour they were. We looked at this website to find out some more information. The children asked for the website link to be put on their page so they could continue their fact finding themselves.

'No Put Down' Week

As part of 'No Put Down' week, the children in Year 1 decorated biscuits to give to their local hair salon 'Huttons', so they could give them away to their customers.

The children designed and made their windmills before testing them out on a suitably windy day!

Victorian Toys - Simon Stone Drama - Nov 2014

We learnt about toys and how they have changed since the Victorian era. The children were able to play with lots of different Victorian toys and they found out what materials they were made of and how they worked. Everyone had lots of 'hands-on' fun trying out all the different toys.

Year 1 Special Celebration of Our Learning

Over Half Term, the children were given a menu of home learning activities. They could choose a starter, main course or dessert! On Friday we shared all our wonderful learning with each other.

Making Kites! - October 2014

We made kites out of recycled materials and then took them outside to fly!

Look at us flying our kites!

Outdoor Curriculum - October 2014

We have been learning to recognise signs of Autumn and create a visual representation.

We found leaves of the same type and arranged them in a circle to show the gradual changing colour.

18 Sept - Numbers and Patterns

We have been practising our numbers and making patterns out of anything we could find in the classroom.
